ASSIGNMENT 5: SUMMARY
1... Download the champions league results of the season 98-99
from the web address http://www.stat-athens.aueb.gr/~jbn/bugs/ass5/.
The data are given in two formats. You may use the file you prefer. You
may not use all the data (e.g. all preliminary games).
2... Construct a model to compare the opponents with non-informative
prior distributions. Predict who is going to win the competition (express
it in probabilities). Do you think that may be a problem with the model
you selected and the flat prior distributions???
3... Use data from previous years 96-97 and 97-98 to construct informative
priors. Describe why you think that this prior expresses prior beliefs
and rerun the model that you have constructed. Are there any differences.
Which team is now more probable to win the cup. (You may use mle methods
in order to construct fast you prior distribution).
